On the 13th of December 2023, the Circular Business Association (CBA) hosted an event titled SMILEce European Forum at GRASHKA Deli, Ljubljana, commemorating a year of remarkable achievements and the end of the SMILEce project.

More than 30 participants witnessed the presentation of final outputs of the SMILEce project, an Erasmus+ project focusing on improving the circularity of microbreweries. The SMILEce e-learning platform tackles different aspects of microbrewing business with topics ranging from production, packaging and transport as well as from marketing, stakeholder engagement and community building. The platform will be accessible here: https://www.smilecebrewing.eu/ .

Within the project CBA developed an adapted version of Circularity Assessment Score (SMILEce CAS) intended specifically for micro, craft and hobby beer brewers. CAS is a self assessment tool which enables business to track their progress thorugh their circular business transformation. To test the tool and receive your own Circular Score visit: https://www.circularbusiness.academy/smilece-cas/.

Furthermore, attendees indulged in the Circular Christmas spirit with responsibly sourced refreshments from GRASHKA (https://grashka.co/). Martin Rojnik, CEO of Grashka, presented their pioneering steps in sourcing and producing sustainable food. Samo Žabkar, CEO, and Jure Zlobko, Sales Director, from Microbrewery RESET (https://reset-brewery.com/en/) presented their sustainable and circular practices in brewing beer 100% sourced from Slovenia.

The gathering facilitated networking and a tasting session, allowing participants to savour locally sourced products and embrace the true nature of circular business practices.
